School News and Updates
This week was challenging due to the secure hold, but we are so grateful to our entire school community for how everyone handled the situation and worked together to keep our students safe and learning.
  • We have gotten a lot of interest in our new Vallejo MIT hoodies and T-Shirts. If you are interested in purchasing one, you can talk to Ms. Gains at Mgains@gtaschools.org, and pay online using the "donate" button. It is a $40 donation for a hoodie and a $25 donation for a t-shirt. Additionally, instead of our monthly pizza raffle, this year, we will hold monthly raffles to give away these hoodies and t-shirts. Students can enter the raffle with MIT Money
  • We are looking for parent volunteers to help with campus supervision. If you are interested or available, please reach out to Ms. Gains at mgains@gtaschools.org
  • Dress code enforcement has been a challenge. Many students have come in dress code every day, and we greatly appreciate those students; however, some students have really struggled to come in dress code consistently. Moving forward, if a student has been out of dress code multiple times and is caught out of dress code out on the campus, they will be provided a polo shirt, be required to change into it and leave their other shirt with us, and parents will be charged $15 for the polo; Students will be allowed to pick up their other shirt at the end of the day; however, if there is a financial hardship causing the student to be out of dress code, we will gladly provide the student with assistance, but the parent needs to complete this form to request assistance.
September Calendar
Calendar updates, Bell Schedule updates and Upcoming Events
You can view important school-wide events by subscribing to our school Google Calendar.
  • Monday September 2 is Labor Day Holiday and there will not be school.
  • Back to School Night has MOVED. It will now be September 26 at 6pm. We're excited to see you all there! As such we have made that week a little different with Friday 9/27 being a D day (1:40pm release).
  • The updated calendar (reflecting this change) can be viewed here.
  • The bell schedule is undergoing a minor change. After requests from several staff members and students to make the morning break more consistent, we have moved the morning break to from 10:05am on Wednesday and Friday to 10:00am Wednesday and Friday. You can view the updated bell schedule here.

Important Reminders

After School Program
  • Based on the feedback we received and still having a need for the after school program, we will continue to offer it after school in the MPR in additional to our other afterschool engagement opportunities. Students simply need to sign in in the MPR to be a part of the program.
  • We encourage students to get involved with clubs, sports, and internship/community service opportunities. More information about those will come out on ParentSquare.
