Welcome to this week's edition of the MIT Academy High School Newsletter! We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged.

School News and Updates

  • Our new Assistant Director, Mr. Nyong, starts with us Monday 9/9/24. We are very excited for this latest addition to our team.
  • ASB is now actively meeting, which means student activities will start cropping up around campus (like club rush and spirt week). Thank your ASB team for all their hard work on all the activities.
  • We are looking for parent volunteers to help with campus supervision. If you are interested or available, please contact Ms. Mildred Gains at mgains@gtaschools.org.

  • Next week is our welcome back spirit week. You can see details here.
  • Monday: pajama day
  • Tuesday: tacky tourist
  • Wednesday: Dress as your type
  • Thursday: throwback Thursday
  • Friday: Clique day
  • Next week, we will have our first round of NWEA testing for the school year. Students, come to school ready to show your smarts on this quarterly test.
  • Thursday and Friday, 9/12 and 9/13 will be club rush. This is when you get to learn more about the clubs offered on campus and sign up for clubs you're interested in.
  • September 15- October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage month. More to come on how MIT will celebrate Hispanic Heritage during this time.
  • Spring Honor roll is being moved to September 24, September 26, and October 1. We look forward to celebrating your hard work!
  • Back to school night will be September 26 from 6pm-8pm. We look forward to seeing our families come out to see the great learning happening here at MIT.
  • September 27 at 10am will be the first Danishes with the Director meeting of the school year. This is an open forum meeting where parents can come and meet with the director and ask any questions and learn more about the school.

Important Reminders
  • Come in Dress Code every day. If you need assistance purchasing clothes, please inform the main office.
  • Be sure to be present and on time to every class every day. Remember, we will be enforcing our attendance policy as outlined in the student handbook.
 
Extracurricular Engagement
  • Any student in need of somewhere to go after school can check in at the MPR. No advanced sign up needed.
  • We encourage students to get involved with clubs, sports, and internship/community service opportunities. More information about those will come out on ParentSquare.

  • Students and parents can access important links on our Student/Parent Links Hub. This is one document where you can gain access to many of our resources.
  • Please download the STOPit app on your phone, or use the STOPit web platform to make anonymous reports about things happening at our school.
