School News and Updates
  • The progress reporting period ends today, so you can expect your progress reports soon.
  • Thank you so much to all the parents who signed up with interest in school site council! We actually received more interested than we need, so we will be holding elections soon to elect our new school site council parent members!
  • This week was challenging with some safety concerns, but thanks to all the staff and students that continued to ensure school safety!
  • Reminder: 10 minutes after the end of school, the school gates will close, and 20 minutes after the end of school, students need to report to the MPR to ensure safety and adequate supervision.
  • Any families with siblings of our students in neighboring schools need to have the siblings wait at their school for pick up so that we can ensure adequate supervision. Please do not have siblings wait on our campus for our students.
  • We are partnering with Care Solace to connect our students, families, and staff to mental health resources. You can go online to our Care Solace webpage to search for your own support, or you can reach out to our counselors for their assistance in the process.

Upcoming Events
You can view important school-wide events by subscribing to our school Google Calendar.
  • November is Good Nutrition month. It's a great time to refocus on healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle.
  • November 11: School will be closed in observance of Veterans Day: Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served – not only those who died – have sacrificed and done their duty.
  • November 25-29: School will be closed for Thanksgiving break.
Ruby Bridges
Celebrate with us
  • November 14 is Ruby Bridges walk to school day. Wear purple in honor of this momentous part of American history.
  • Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day An annual day of dialogue to commemorate Ruby's historic steps. Students will continue the conversation and take part in their own forms of activism to bring an end to racism and all forms of bullying.
  • Ruby's Story Six year old Ruby Bridges stepped into the history books in 1960 when she integrated William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans becoming a national icon for the civil rights movement. Today her story continues to inspire the next generation of leaders to end racism together one step at a time.

Important Reminders
  • If you are staying after school for ANY reason (clubs, sports, etc), we need you to complete this registration form to ensure we have the correct emergency contact information. All students staying after school for any reason now need to check in at the MPR (sign in), then go to their respective activity. While in the MPR you will also have the opportunity to get a snack from the cafeteria.
  • Come in Dress Code every day. If you need assistance purchasing clothes, please inform the main office. Students out of dress code are subject to a $15 charge for replacement items.
  • School attendance is extremely important. Be sure you are in class on time every day to every class. This helps ensure that you are not missing important learning, and it helps fund important programs at the school! Plus! you might just earn a Dutch Bros gift card!. Remember, we will be enforcing our attendance policy as outlined in the student handbook.
  • Mr. Nyong is the assistant director and the main point of contact for student matters (conflicts, discipline, 504s, parent conferences, bullying, etc). Please do not hesitate to reach out to him at onyong@gtaschools.org.
